Why we're building Kijiva
A family's health history ends up split across folders, chats and lab portals. This is what we want to fix, and the lines we won't cross.
Ask anyone who looks after a parent's health what the hardest part is, and paperwork comes up fast. Not the medical side. The paper side.
A thyroid test from one lab. A prescription photographed on a phone. A discharge summary in a plastic folder. Three more reports sitting in a WhatsApp chat, somewhere above a hundred forwards. When a new doctor asks, “What did the last few reports say?”, the answer is usually a few minutes of scrolling and a guess.
One history instead of many scraps
Kijiva is a place to bring those records together. You add a report or a prescription, from a PDF or a photo, and Kijiva keeps the original exactly as it arrived. It then picks out the important parts: test names, values, dates, medicines. Each fact stays linked to the page it came from.
Over time that turns into a history. The same test from different labs lines up on one timeline, and each result is shown against the range printed on its own report, because labs don't always use the same one.
Built for families
Most people we speak to aren't only managing their own records. They're managing a mother's thyroid reports, a father's heart medication, a child's vaccinations. So Kijiva has a profile for each person, and every record belongs to exactly one of them. You always know whose history you're looking at.
What we won't do
Health records deserve care, so some limits are part of the product:
- Kijiva won't diagnose you or tell you what a result means for your health. That is a conversation for you and your doctor.
- It won't tell you to start, stop or change a medicine.
- If a line on a report is hard to read, Kijiva shows you the original and asks you to confirm it. It won't guess and call it a fact.
- Your records won't be sold or used to target advertising.
